We’re the pacesetter in the development and manufacture of ultrahigh-pressure (UHP) waterjet technology, and a leading provider of robotics equipment.

We are seeking Senior Commodity Managers with electrical experience in our Jeffersonville, IN or Kent, WA locations!

General Purpose:

The Commodity Manager leads the development and execution of global commodity strategies which drive rapid, significant, and sustainable improvement in on-time delivery, responsiveness, quality, cost, and working capital.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute Global Commodity Strategies which deliver:
  • Supplier rationalization and the associated supply base transformation plan
  • Supplier selection and qualification processes
  • Supplier relationship model and supplier management programs
  • Targeted improvements in quality, delivery, responsiveness, cost, and return on investment capital
  • Comprehensive commodity profiles, including market analysis, benchmarking, and total cost of ownership
  • Identification and associated mitigation plans for pricing inflation and high risk factors that may impact total cost or assurance of supply
• Engage Product Development in design for supply chain decisions, identify preferred suppliers early in the product lifecycle, and ensure supplier capability and capacity are in place to support new product introductions
• Lead cross-functional teams in the evaluation, selection, and qualification of new suppliers as well as the development of existing suppliers
• Provide the leadership for developing successful supplier relationships, creating and negotiating supplier contracts or pricing agreements, managing all facets of supplier management activities for  assigned commodities, and completing regular supplier performance assessments
• Identify cost reduction opportunities by utilizing benchmarking data, completing cost modeling and supplier cost analysis, identifying product/process improvements, executing competitive sourcing processes, analyzing commodity market trends, and maximizing economies of scale by fully leveraging global spend
• Balance strategy development with the  tactical execution necessary to execute cost reduction projects through contract negotiation, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with finance to validate the impact to the General Ledger
• Establish effective internal customer relationships and gain key stakeholders trust and respect
• Develop sources for market intelligence including world-wide supplier capabilities, purchasing groups, trade organizations/associations, trade journals, internet research, and OEM’s
• Help achieve zero defects by driving significant lean transformation throughout the supply chain and continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process
• Conduct periodic supplier audits to assess potential assurance of supply risks (i.e. financial stability, capacity…)
• Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information, protect the assets of the organization, act with ethics and integrity, report non-compliance, and adhere to all applicable laws and regulations

• Possess a high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to work in a matrix environment and coordinate projects across functions, sites, and business units
• Extensive knowledge of ERP/MRP software/systems
• Solid understanding and use of software and analytics to extract, analyze and interpret data to make effective business decisions
• Ability to understand electrical schematics a plus
• Should be knowledgeable in PLC programming, electrical enclosures, servo motors, electrical drive systems, transistors and diodes.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Engineering, Business, or related field from an accredited college or university; Electrical Engineering background preferred
• Five years experience in global commodity management within a related manufacturing industry, including 2 years in a leadership role
• Knowledgeable in basic electrical components such as Motors, Breakers, Switch gears, transformers and relays
• Extensive experience developing and executing commodity strategies which delivered breakthrough results
• Lean or Six Sigma certification and extensive experience with Kanban/Pull Systems, VSM, Kaizen, Six Sigma, 5S is preferred
• Three years of experience with international sourcing and contract negotiations
• APICS—CPIM certification preferred

• May require frequent availability and communication during non-standard business hours to communicate with global team members
• Fluency in a foreign language a plus
• Some domestic and international travel may be required (<20%)
