Location and team
DNV KEMA's Telecommunications Consulting Group is seeking a Telecommunications professional with experience working with utilities to join our team. This position may be based out of any DNV KEMA office in the United States.

Tasks may include

  • Deliverable development, project kick-off and management of telecommunications planning, engineering and implementation related projects for electric utilities
  • Project management throughout the projects.
  • Support business development activities through proposal development, attending conferences, and customer presentations
  • Travel in support of client activities for 50% of the time is not unusual.

What we're asking

  • BS Degree in Engineering required; MBA preferred
  • 5+ years experience in telecommunications planning, engineering and implementation for electric utilities as a consultant, vendor, supplier or utility employee. Federal / military facilities experience a plus.
  • Experience in business development, project cost estimating, proposal writing and client relationship development and project management.
  • Experience with presentation development and execution, teaming development and negotiation, project planning and budgeting, resource coordination and deployment, deliverable development.
  • Must be willing to travel over 50% of the time domestically and at times, internationally
  • Must be able to work with full business fluency, written and spoken in the English language. Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio required
  • Experience with NetPLan or other network-planning tools required
  • Must have a proven track record of successful project performance
  • PE license preferred
  • DoD Security clearance a plus
A background with three or more of the following is desired:
  • Smart Grid, Substation, and AMI Communications
  • Distribution Automation Communication systems design, architecture and implementation
  • Fiber Optic, (SONET, Next Gen SONET, OTN, GigE)
  • Microwave, Digital & Analog
  • Land Mobile Radio (LMR), UHF, VHF, 800Mhz, 900Mhz
  • Wireless Data Systems including Zigbee, WiFi, & WiMAX
  • Cellular (CDMA, GSM, TDMA, EVDO, EDGE, LTE)
  • Multiple Address Systems (MAS)
Operations Knowledge Desired
  • Control center communications
  • SCADA communications
  • Utility Communications
  • Telecommunications carrier systems use by utilities
  • Mobile carrier systems use by utilities
