Job Description

Would you like to own driving the inside sales revenue for a leader in the Cloud Computing business in the Global Public Sector?  Would you like to be part of a team focused on increasing awareness and adoption of Amazon Web Services by engaging with governmentAgencies and NGO’s  that are reinventing their IT strategy by adopting cloud computing? Do you have the business savvy, government sales experience and the inside sales background necessary to help further establish Amazon as a leading cloud platform provider? We are looking for an experienced Technical Sales Representative with the potential to build and grow a nationally focused Federal Government team.  The ideal candidate will have a track record of success driving top sales results from an inside sales perspective, partnering cross functionally, and professionally representing strategic client needs/perspectives to the sales organization.  The candidate will have a strong track record of developing and executing sales strategies, tactics, plans, processes, systems and programs.  The candidate will be known for accurate forecasting, possess a combination of strong relationship building and analytical sales skills.  

 

As a Technical Sales Representative within Amazon Web Services (AWS) focusing on the Global Public Sector market, you will have the exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon’s utility computing web services (Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon SimpleDB, Amazon RDS, etc). The primary duty involves tracking and following up on sales leads. Your broad responsibilities will include lead generation, qualification and call follow-up as well as driving business and delivering results closing small scale transactional deals at a rapid rate and developing and managing a growing book of business across public sector by helping to define and identify key opportunities. You will establish customer relationships through your knowledge of AWS capabilities and service offerings which you will map to the prospective customer’s mission and their environment.  You will have day-to-day interactions with these prospects. The ideal candidate will possess both a business background that enables them to drive an engagement and interact with prospective customers, as well as a technical background that enables them to interact with AWS architects.  He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about the mission, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Serve as an important member of the AWS Global Public Sector team in helping to drive leads and overall AWS market share.
  • Develop a sales lead generation plan, meeting or exceeding monthly / annual targets.
  • Identify decision makers amongst the targeted leads in order to start sales process.
  • Collaborate with sales team to determine essential strategic approaches for sales and identify specific prospects/partners/channels to approach while communicating the specific value proposition for their business and use case.
  • Outbound and inbound sales account management.
  • Provide effective presentations.
  • Prepare sale quotes and deliver to prospective customers.
  • Create, manage and deliver qualified leads to sales team as appropriate.
  • Attend industry conferences to develop industry expertise and to build network.
  • Create and implement sales programs and tools that increase performance by the sales team.
  • Understand and navigate Government contacting vehicles and procedures.
  • Be a thought leader and a customer relationship builder 
  • Understand the technical considerations and certifications specific to the federal government.
  • Develop and execute a strategic inside sales plan while working with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales teams, marketing teams, legal, support, etc.).
  • Expand and manage an accurate and robust sales pipeline and forecast of business opportunities by engaging with prospects, partners, and customers.
  • Work with the customer base to ensure they are successful using our web services, making sure they have the technical resources required.
  • Understand and exploit the use of salesforce.com; capture accurate and complete information in Customer Relationship Management system (CRM).
  • Prepare and give business reviews to the sales team regarding progress and roadblocks to closing new customers and report on market situation.
  • Handle a high volume of engagements and the fast pace of the cloud computing market
  • Important to have knowledge and understanding of data storage technologies for both structured and unstructured data, the fundamentals of cloud computing and virtualization, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Specifications

  • Highly proficient in Micrsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent telephone sales personality skills.
  • Should be expert in CRM software solutions.

  • Highly energetic and self-starter.
  • Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills.
  • Able to multi-task the activities with shifting priorities.
Basic Qualifications
  • The right person will be technical and analytical, possess  2+ years of inside sales experience with a focus on the public sector customers.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
  • Self-motivated with a great sense of urgency and follow-through.
  • Track record for exceeding quota.
  • Ability to multi-task and work many sales opportunities simultaneously.
  • Experience working within the software development and cloud computing industry is highly desired.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
  • Working knowledge of software development practices and technologies highly desired.
