This job has been closed, and is no longer taking applications.The Clinical Educator / RN position is a dual role of educator and RN. Responsible for unit based assessment, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of education programs that enhances the performance of professional unit staff. - Identifies and assesses learning needs of department employees by observing care being delivered, reviewing quality assurance data, and seeking input from the department and medical directors.
- Develops list of education needs and identifies best method for meeting needs of employees, including, but not limited to in-service education, certification programs, outside workshops/seminars, and professional readings.
- Develops schedule of planned educational offerings and coordinates scheduling dates with other offerings within and outside the hospital.
- Researches topics to be presented and facilitates various education activities, e.g.., certification programs, in-services, unit clinical rotations of Nursing Students, skills fairs, simulation lab, etc.
- Evaluates effectiveness of educational activities and revises materials as necessary in order to maximize clinical certification of nurses.
- Develops, interprets, and reviews policies and procedures within the services provided.
- Maintains accurate records of competencies, educational activities offered and communicates and reports as appropriate.
- Maintains own clinical and educational competence by staffing-in and working in NICU clinical unit one dayshift or nightshift per week., Required to staff-in the NICU a minimum of one major and one minor holiday.
- Provides support to and works with the Administrative Director of Education in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating continuning Nursing ducation (CNE) activities.
- Ensure compliance with guidelines/regulations of overseeing agencies/organizations
- Assists with the recruitment, training, and retention of competent staff
- Collaborates, develops and participates in marketing of the Department, including educational program development, external advertising and working in alliance with local and regional programs.
