This enables us to offer a level of service comparable to many larger accounting firms. ParenteBeard is seeking a Manager for its Small Business Practice in the New York City office. Under the general supervision of Partners, the Managers have oversight on all regular and special matters for those clients delegated to them by the Partners. This oversight includes; quality control of all work, review of work papers, preparation of all reports, statements and letters for final acceptance by the responsible Partner, planning, supervision and control of all phases of regular client services, engagement staff supervision and maintenance of client relationships. The Manager coaches and develops team members and participates in business development activities. Supervisory Responsibilities The Small Business Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating and evaluating team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firm’s policies and applicable laws. Specific responsibilities include: assisting with the hiring and termination of team members; planning staffing levels for individual assignments; implementing new Firm initiatives; supervising, coaching and developing staff; providing direction, guidance and constructive criticism, preparing and conducting performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints and resolving employee problems. Successful candidates will have a minimum of five years public accounting or related experience along with a record of progressively increasing knowledge, skill, responsibility and independence. In addition, sound written and verbal communication skills, an ability to work independently or as part of a team and the capacity to appropriately interact with all levels of Firm management and staff, clients and other external business contacts are required. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Accounting Managers are expected to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or have an Enrolled Agent (EA) license. Individuals in this position must have demonstrated computer skills and experience with accounting software is required. A valid driver’s license is also required. Working Expectations & Conditions - Frequent same day travel for work at clients’ offices using a personal vehicle. - Frequent/Occasional out-of-town travel that may require overnight stay for work at clients using a personal vehicle.
