•Enhances and promotes Newsday.com content on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Fark, Digg, Yahoo! Buzz and other high-profile sites.
•Checks website for any quirky, interesting stories that warrant promotion.
•Works and checks on all tweets from Newsday staff, troubleshooting any errors.
•Promotes content on the Newsday Facebook page; prepares polls, adds friends and creates other interactive content.
•Promotes stories in Fark and other media sites such as the Drudge Report, Huffington Post and other large blogs/aggregators.
•Makes 3-4 special comments on Newsday.com Twitter feed, promoting special content and engaging readers.
•Verifies tweets are working properly, in a timely fashion.
•Participates in special projects as assigned by the Interactive Management team. | | •Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communications or related field.
•Six months of internship/freelance experience within a newsroom/magazine setting driving user generated content online.
•Good understanding/knowledge of social media sites/blog boards including Facebook, Twitter, Fark, Digg, Yahoo! Buzz, etc |
