Senior IT Specialist

Location: Beltsville, MD

 

 

Job Description (What are the Duties of this Position?):  General Experience:

Senior Cyber Security Specialists have nine (9) years of substantive IT / Security knowledge and demonstrated hands-on expertise and/or training in areas of Security Forensic Analyst. These areas include, but are not limited to, Network monitoring, Computer incident response Team (CIRT) Tier 3 support, reverse engineering of malicious code, advanced log analysis, In-depth knowledge of network communications and protocols. Must understand computer viruses, worms, malware, adware, fake AV, root kits, SPAM, and Spear Phishing attack methods and be able to perform static and dynamic analysis of malware at a Sr. level. The Sr. Analyst will provide direct feedback and direction to the Jr. Analysts. The Sr. Analyst will provide technical insight to management / clients on important issues. The candidate must also be able to explain technical details in a none technical manner. Provides technical expertise, support, and oversight in one or more emerging technology areas including, but not limited to, cyber security, computer (cyber) incident response, network technologies, setup configure and maintenance of malware analysis workstations and Cyber forensic lab environments, must be able to perform behavioral analysis of malicious files that have been protected by obfuscation techniques, such as binary packers, encryption, or self-modifying code, to obstruct analysis. Is proficient with the disassembly and the analysis of assembly code. Must understand network security posture and network monitoring techniques and tools and have the ability to identify network-based indicators that reveal the presence and activity of malware. Reviews and recommends solutions to customer problems based on prior experience and hands-on understanding of how products and services interrelate and support the customer mission. Must be self motivated and take pride in their work. 

 

Clearance: Secret

 

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Security Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Forensics, Cyber Security, Information Systems, Social Science, or other related analytical, scientific, or technical disciplines including SANS GREM certification.

 

 

 

 

Technical Skill Requirements:

 

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Analyze Network traffic
  • Perform static and dynamic analysis of malware
  • Reveres engineer malicious files
  • Experience with Sandbox environments 
  • Correlate malicious files to known and unknown exploits and CVE’s
  • Test and review new technology to aide in network traffic / file analysis and reporting
  • Report dissected file details to client, management, and members of other teams
  • Providing technical oversight to Jr. Analysts

 

Key Skills:

  • Expertise conducting bit level forensic analysis of files, Operating Systems and network traffic
  • Experience creating custom detection rules and monitoring network frameworks
  • Outstanding analytical skills and ability to perform root cause analysis
  •  Experience managing data loss incidents
  •  Professional technical writing ability
  •  High level of initiative, creativity and motivation
  •  Outstanding communication and influencing skills
  •  Experience within Federal IT space
  •  Ability to operate autonomously once a plan has been agreed

 

Desirable:

  • GREM, CISSP, CISM, ACE, CFCE, CCE, CHFI, EnCE, and GCFA Certifications
  • Firm Microsoft, Linux and Mac file system knowledge
  • Experience in Classified / SBU environments
  • JAVA, PhP, HTML, C++ or other languages
