Qualifications Required: Must have relevant experience. See below for a complete description.
EliteMed is the nations largest recruiter for medical device sales professionals. We currently have over 250 jobs nationwide that we are trying to fill. We got that way by understanding and meeting the needs of our corporate customers and by providing our customers with the type of quality candidate no other firm can.
Universally, our customers are looking to hire people who have relevant medical device sales experience. They want someone who understands orthopedic procedures, surgical instruments, and knows how to sell in a highly competitive marketplace. They want someone who can make a difference from day one and is ready to make a positive impact immediately. As such, we only provide candidates to our corporate partners from one of two “experienced” categories.
The first is someone who has done the job before completely. They have the ability to manage the territory responsibilities including covering cases and building business through previous developed relationships specific to the specialty provided in the job description. This is someone who has a strong documented track record of performance in a previous medical device sales position. This means you have or are selling a competitive product now. For example, if it is a spine job, you must have spine hardware selling experience. Someone applying for a spine job who has sold pharmaceuticals would not be considered “experienced” in spine hardware and spine fusion procedures. If you have this specific experience, we want you to apply for this position.
The second type of candidate is someone who has been specifically trained in orthopedic sales and procedures. We have developed a partnership with Medical Sales College and have exclusive rights to the graduates of the Medical Sales College. These individuals have a special skill set as they have completed a rigorous training platform that makes them more attractive to our employers. After eight-weeks of training, they have learned the necessary skills to perform now. The following topics are covered during the course of study at Medical Sales College:
Anatomy
Medical Terminology
Biomechanics
O.R. Protocol
Attend Live Surgery
Selling Skills
Role-Plays
Surgeon Profiling
Surgeon Targeting
Business Development
Best of all, post the eight weeks of training, we get a very good idea of their ability to perform through our discussions with the Medical Sales College. Our employers know that an MSC graduate is ready to make a positive contribution from day one.
When you consider it from an employer’s perspective it makes perfect sense. If there was a choice between two candidates, one who has 8 weeks of training from MSC and is trained in orthopedic procedures, physician profiling, territory management, etc. and another candidate who has only general sales experience, who would you choose?
Well the answer has been pretty obvious. We’ve assisted in almost 500 placements of graduates from Medical Sales College into the medical sales industry. For people without direct orthopedic sales experience, we encourage individuals who truly want to get into medical device sales to strongly consider attending Medical Sales College.
